A night with Granna and Grampy and daddys new truck!
Friday night Brentley had his first night away from me and Phillip. My parents decided that they would keep him so that me and Phillip could get some rest. Phillip was off on Saturday so we had decided that we would go look for a new vehicle. Instead of us having to get up early and driving to Albemarle then back to Charlotte we decided to let my parents keep him. Brentley did great. I think he only woke them up like twice. Of course Phillip and I stayed over at my parents house until pretty late on Friday night before we headed home. I think it was close to midnight before we left. As soon as we were out of the driveway we were both ready to turn around and go get him. We knew he was well taken care of but we really missed him. We didn't go back to get him but neither of us could go to sleep once we got home. Since we couldn't sleep we decided to play rock band. We haven't really gotten to play together since bringing Brentley home because we have been too busy either tending to Brentley or cleaning the house. I think we ended up staying up until around 2 or 2:30 in the morning playing. It was really a lot of fun but the entire time we were playing we kept talking about how much we missed our little man. After getting finished we went to bed and did get a good nights rest. When we got up on Saturday the first thing we did was call to check on Brentley. Of course he was doing just fine. We then got ready and mom dropped dad off at our house so that the three of us could go look for a truck while mom took Brentley to her parents house. We went to drive several different trucks and by the end of the day we were worn out. We didn't end up getting a new truck on Saturday but we did narrow our decision down and knew exactly what we wanted. We have since traded in the civic, since we were having difficulties getting the car seat to fit in it, and we now have a toyota tundra. We will post some pictures later of it when I actually go out and make some pictures of it. The car seat fits perfect and we are really enjoying it.

First snow of 2009
On Tuesday we had our first snow of 2009 and it was Brentley's first snow. He is still too little for us to take out in the snow so we ended up staying inside the entire day. I just did not want to risk getting him sick just to be out in the snow. I didn't even know until later in the day on Monday that they were calling for snow. Once I found out I decided that it would be best for Phillip, Brentley and me to stay the night with my parents. Phillip had to work and if we would have stayed at our house he would have had to drive on back roads to get to work. With staying at mom and dads he could drive on main roads that would have been treated. Also, I knew that if something happened and I needed to get Brentley somewhere on Monday that mom or dad would be able to take us. Phillip woke me up on Tuesday morning around 5:00 when he was getting ready to let me know that the ground was covered with snow. It was so pretty. I did go back to sleep until around 7:30 when mom woke me up so that I could watch Brentley while she got ready for work. She wasn't sure if she was going to have to go in to work or if she was going to be able to stay at home. It ended up that her and dad both were able to work from home. Of course it wasn't long until Allison made Scott bring her over to spend the day with us too. We really had a great day with everyone being over at mom and dads. Brentley was spoiled rotten and I do not think he was layed down at all. Someone was holding him all day long. On wednesday I had to go for allergy testing early in the morning so we decided to stay the night again at mom and dads just incase the roads were bad.

2 weeks and counting
On Saturday Brentley was 2 weeks old. Since we have been home he has been great. He normally only gets up twice during the night and he only really ever cries when he is hungry or is getting his diaper changed. He absolutely loves to take a bath and to get his hair washed. I really thought that he would scream and hate to take baths but I have been pleasantly suprised at just how much he really enjoys being in the water. This really makes me happy since I love the water. I can't wait until this summer when we get to go to the pool. I do have pictures that I will try to get posted really soon. I had a feeling that once I was home from the hospital that I would get slack about keeping the blog updated. I probably will not be blogging everday but I will try to get one here as much as possible to keep everyone updated.
I am still in awe that I have a two week old. He is just so precious and I have enjoyed each and every day with him. I never knew I could love someone as much as I love my sweet little boy, and I know Phillip feels the same way. I have been so impressed with Phillip over the past week. He has been a tremendous help around the house and with Brentley. On the nights that he doesn't have to work the next day he takes baby duty at night. He also changes diapers and even helps me give Brentley baths. I really believe that Brentley has brought me and Phillip even closer together than we were before his arrival. Phillip's eyes just light up when he gets home from work. I just love to see Phillip take care of Brentley. He is such a great dad and I know he always will be.

First sleepover
Saturday night Phillip, Brentley and I went to spend the night with my parents. I have been worn out since we got home from the hospital and still have headaches from time to time. My parents were sweet enough to let us come stay with them on Saturday night to help take care of Brentley. Brentley has his own crib in granna and grampy's room but I do not believe he even spent an hour in it before getting upgraded to granna and grampy's bed. Phillip had to work on Sunday so he went to bed a while before the rest of us. After he was in bed Brentley got his nightly bath from granna and then we ended up staying up until around midnight. At that time we all went up stairs to bed. I had a hard time getting to sleep but once I was asleep I got a very much needed long night of rest. I think Brentley woke his granna and grampy up about 3 times but I do not think they minded at all. They did get up and go to church on Sunday but Brentley and I did not go this Sunday. We are waiting until next week when Phillip will be off so we all can go as a family for Brentley's first time. The doctor advised that we not go for 8 weeks but we are going to go a little earlier than that. I think he will be just fine espcially since we have been other places with him.

First shopping trip.
Friday mom took the day off of work to come stay with me and Brentley. A little before lunch we got everyone ready and left out to go on our first shopping trip since having Brentley. We first stopped to get a bite to eat at Texas Roadhouse and then we went to Babies R Us. I was able to get a few of the things we still needed from there. After Babies R Us we decided to head over to Concord Mills. One of my favorite stores for Brentley is The Children's Place. The plan was to run into The Children's Place and Carters and then come home. Of course once in the mall we decided to go to some other stores and ended up walking around the entire mall. I was so worn out by the time we left the mall and so was Brentley. Needless to say I was in need of sleep Friday night but Brentley didn't want to sleep. We did get a lot of cute clothes for little Brentley, even though none of them fit just yet. Right now he is still so small that he is wearing newborn sized outfits. We did try to put him in a 0-3 month outfit before we left for our shopping trip but it was just too big. Overall, Brentley's first ever shopping trip went good. He was such a good baby, as always.

I love being a mommy!
Today was Brentley's second full day home. Since coming home on Monday afternoon I have been really sick with a spinal headache. The doctor sent me home with a few different kinds of medicine for the headaches but nothing was really working. Every time I would try to sit up in bed my head felt as if it was going to explode. Last night I finally had had enough and broke down and called the doctor. When we left the hospital on Monday the doctors did not think it was a spinal headache because the medicine seemed to be working. Once we called the doctor last night she said she still wasn't sure it was a spinal headache but that she would put orders in with the pain clinic today for a blood patch if I wanted to go have that done. So last night I took pain medication every four hours and I had no relief at all. I called first thing this morning and the pain clinic was able to get me in around 12:30 to do the blood patch. Dad had to get off of work to take me over to Concord since Phillip was working. When dad got to the house I told him to take Brentley and change him and feed him while I got ready. Getting ready was a huge task. Even being out of the bed for a minute put me in excruciating pain. I finally was able to finish getting ready and we were on our way. Once to the pain clinic it felt like an eternity just to walk from the car to the office. My head felt as if it were going to come off at any moment. Once we were back in the office I was able to lay down and the pain was gone. I stayed on the bed until the blood patch was done. To do the blood patch they had to start two IV's. One IV was for fluids and the other was to get the blood for the patch. The procedure did not take long at all and as soon as it was finished and I was able to sit up the headache was completely gone. I was so glad that I had decided to go ahead and get it done. My head is still a little sore tonight but doesn't ache like it has since Monday. I feel like a new person actually being able to sit up and take care of my child. I have been lucky that Allison was off half a day on Tuesday and Phillip was off yesterday to look after Brentley. I do not know what I would have done if no one would have been off to help me those two days.
Enough about me, Brentley is doing so good. He normally only wakes me up twice at night for feedings. I was a little concerned when we first left the hospital because he was not eating very much at all. They gave us premixed formula at the hospital. Each bottle contains 2 ounces and while there he wasn't even eating 1/2 and ounce. Now he is eating the entire bottle which makes me happy. He had his first doctor's appointment yesterday and she said everything looked great. He does have a little jaundice but not enough that he needs treatment. The jaundice actually looks much better today now that he is eating more. Phillip has been a great help with Brentley. When he has the next day off he takes baby duty at night so that I do not have to get up every night with him. He has also been great with changing diapers and just loving all over him. My parents have also been wonderful with helping us out. They have came over every night and mom gives him a bath for me about every night. She just loves doing that and Brentley actually doesn't mind taking a bath. I really don't think we will ever need babysitters because everyone in our families just fuss over him. Brentley hardly even knows what it feels like to lay down because someone is always holding him. He is only 5 days old but he is already spoiled rotten, which is okay. We really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that everyone said for us while we were in the hospital. God has been very good to us and has truly blessed us with a precious little boy.

He is eating good and just being the perfect baby (even though he pee peed on daddy last night... However Hollie is not doing so good. She has been in the bed ever since Monday night with an severe migrane headache. The doctors are thinking that it is an spinal headache and should go away shortly. She has been taking 4 different types of medication but nothing is helping. Please pray for her wile she is recovering.
Lastly to the "annonyous" person that has been leaving nasty comments on this blog. You are not welcome to leave comments on this page. Please keep your thoughts and comments to yourself.

Home at last
Today we were finally discharged from the hospital after 36 days. While I was very happy to be coming home I will very much miss all the great nurses in the high risk ob area. They were all so wonderful to me, Phillip and Brentley. We got to see all of the nurses with the exception I think of three that have taken care of us over the past month after I had our precious little one. Nurses even came in today on their day off to see us before we were discharged and one nurse came in early for her shift to see us off today. It was sad leaving them and it almost brought tears to my eyes but I am very thankful to be home. Brentley has been so good today. Last night was a very long night. Since having him I have had a terrible upper back ache and headache. The doctor thinks it is probably muscle spasms from being in the bed and the positions I had to lay in the 28 hours I was in labor. Yes, that is right 28 hours of labor. Most of those I couldn't move very much because of the epidural. The epidural was the best thing ever, but as most of you know once you have it you can't move around freely because you can't feel anything waist down.
Anyways, before we left the hospital today we had a lot to get done. Brentley had to have all kinds of test run to make sure he was healthy enough to be sent home. He was also circumsized this morning. I think the tylenol they gave him after that knocked him out most of the day. All of his test came back great and now he will just have to see his pediatrician on Wednesday for his first real doctors appointment. I will have to go back on Friday just to have my blood pressure checked and to take my blood sugars to the doctor to look over. They did end up sending me home on both insulin and blood pressure medication. My blood sugar level have been great so far today so hopefully the diabetes was only pregnancy induced and hopefully it has corrected itself now. Well, I have so much that needs to be done at the house but I will update you all more tomorrow. If you happen to call the house and we don't answer please realize that either we are sleeping or that we are very busy. Once things calm down a bit we will return calls and answer the phone. We are still trying to get adjusted to everything right now and the phone is the last thing on our minds right now. I will try to get pictures uploaded to snapfish or another picture program tonight and I will try to get them posted tomorrow. Hopefully the meds they gave me for the headaches will work wonders and I can get some things done tomorrow.

| Brentley Kaden Thompson |
As you all know now, Brentley Kaden Thompson was born on January 3, 2009. He weighed in at 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches. He is just perfect and we love him very much. So far he has been a very happy baby and hasn't cried very much at all for us. He has a beautiful head full of hair and is just a great baby. The plan is to come home tomorrow as long as everything stays stable. I will post more about his entrance and more pictures when we arrive home and I have a little time. For now these are just a few of the pictures that we have.

God is so good...induction moved up
Yes that is right. I know I just posted a few hours ago that induction would be next weekend but right before lunch I received a surprise visit from Dr. B. She had the best news we have heard in 32 days. The lungs are developed and induction will begin in the next couple of hours. We are so excited that we don't even know what to do. When they do the amnio there are 3 test to tell whether or not the lungs are developed. One test can be read in the hospital here and the others are sent off and take days to get the results. Well, the results from that just came back today and were mature. We are so blessed and know that this is truly all God working in his miraculous way. The nurses here are all surprised and are very, very happy as are we. So, the next time I blog I will officially be a mommy and will have my little baby boy. Well, I am getting off of here so that I can get ready to head to labor and delivery. Keep us in your prayers!

Date set for induction
The date for induction has finally been set. I will be induce next Saturday morning on January 10th. We are very excited to finally have a date to look forward to. Dr. B will be on call all of next weekend so we are very excited. She came in this morning and told us the good news. She told us that on Friday she will come in and check my cervix to see if I am dilated and to see if the cervix is softening out any. If I am not dilated to 3cm at that time they will send me to labor and delivery on Friday night to begin cervidil to ripen the cervix. They will then begin administering pitocin on Saturday morning early and either Saturday evening or Sunday morning we will have our little bundle of joy. Hopefully labor will go by quickly and I can deliver him on Saturday. As long as everything goes well with the induction and I am able to have a normal delivery we will only have to stay for 2 days following delivery. If they would have to do a c-section then I would have to stay either 3 or 4 days after delivery. I am just so excited that we now have a date to look forward too. Of course if the little one decides he is ready before next Saturday that would be okay with me too. Now I just have to find enough activities to keep me busy next week so that the time will fly by. Phillip does start back to work next week so I will be here during the day by myself. He did go out yesterday and buy me some paint and some picture frames but I think I may have to send him back for more. I wish I was more creative with scrapbooking and that would give me something to do but I have never really tried. I guess I could send Phillip out to find some kind of kit that is already put together to help beginners learn. I am just so excited right now that I can hardly stand myself.
Yesterday was an okay day for me. My blood pressure did start getting high around dinner time and stayed up pretty much until I went to bed last night. This morning it was much better. My blood sugars have been great this week. I can still tell when they start getting low but I have been trying to eat all the snacks that they bring so that I do not get to feeling sick. Last night I did not sleep well. I don't know if it was because I was worried about the blood pressures or what it was. I finally decided at 7:30 to just get up. I am fixing to lay back down now for a nap. I hope you all had a very good New Year's day yesterday and again thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

New Years Day
Well, today is New Year's Day. Phillip and I haven't done much of anything today so far. I did send him out to Walmart to get some drinks for our room and to get me something to do next week while he is working. While he was gone I decided to play the Wii for a little while after I took a shower. I start out just playing games that I could sit in bed and play. After lunch I decided that I would get up and bowl. The lady in the room beside me that had been here for a while got a Wii for Christmas and has been playing it daily I think until she delivered. All the nurses have told me to get up and bowl and hopefully that will make the little one get started. Of course I do not think that it will but at this point I am willing to try anything so I had Phillip bring our Wii up here. Until I started bowling on in a few minutes ago I didn't realize that it does take a lot of energy to do that. It wore me out in a short amount of time since I haven't really been active in a month. I will continue to use the Wii to get some exercise and hopefully that will get things moving along. We are still waiting on Dr. B to decide when she will induce me. She is on next weekend and we are really hoping for a Friday induction but I am not holding my breath on that. Everything else is going good for now. My blood sugars are still in the lower range of normal and most of the time I feel alright but I can tell when they start getting low. Keep praying for us and we will be home before too much longer.

Happy New Years
It is now New Years Day as I am typing this so HAPPY NEW YEAR! We are still counting down the days until induction and since it is now January 1st we only have 11 days at the most to go. I say at the most because we are trying to talk Dr. B into inducing me over the weekend sometime between the 9-11. At the latest it would be on Monday the 12th. I can finally see the end in sight but I still have faith in God that if he is supposed to come before the time for induction then he will be here early. The doctor came in earlier and said the urine test came back in the same level as the prior two have been and the toxemia panel went down yet again. Blood sugar levels have been all over the place. This morning before breakfast was 102 after breakfast was 103 after lunch was 175 (that was on their machine and was 120 on my machine) and after dinner was 87. I did have to eat something after dinner because they are still giving me 24 units of insulin after dinner and if I would not have eaten anything I would have quickly bottomed out.
As I have said since we have been here the nurses are just wonderful. Yesterday the day nurse brought us a gift. It was a little outfit, travel wipes and a bottle. Tonight the night nurse gave us a cute little outfit and a baby rattler. One of the other nurses gave us a refrigerator picture frame magnet the other day while she was working. I do have some news to report. The lady that has been in the room beside of me for a few weeks now had her baby either last night or this morning. She was due 2 weeks after me so it was a little discouraging that she was able to deliver a healthy baby before me but I know God has everything worked out in his plan. I didn't really do much of anything today. I slept most of the day because my blood sugar being low just made me feel bad. I did get a talking to from the nurse because i haven't been telling them when I start to feel bad I just go to sleep. Now I know I have to tell the nurses since it could be something related to the toxemia and not just the sugar level. I will try to get better at that I just hate to bother them.
Tonight Phillip and I didn't do much of anything. I did have to beat him twice at Phase 10 and he wasn't happy about that. While the ball was dropping we were bringing in the new year by having my blood pressure taken and playing cards. Not very romantic but could have been worse. Phillip starts back to work next week so I am not looking forward to that. Allison also starts back to work so I think I will be up here during the day by myself. I am sending Phillip tomorrow to get me some craft projects to do while they are all working. My wishes are that God will send the little one to us before Monday but I know that may not be his will. I will hold off until he is ready because I still do realize that sometimes we have our own time schedules that do not line up with his. I know everything will happen on his time line and not ours. Well, I am headed to bed but please continue to pray for us.
